GPRA announces inaugural NT Scholarship winners
General Practice Registrars Australia (GPRA) is proud to announce the winners of the inaugural GPRA Northern Territory (NT) Scholarships.
The recipients will be celebrated at GPRA’s NT Annual Registrars Forum, to be held from 6-8 September in Darwin.
These scholarships celebrate GP registrars in the NT who demonstrate outstanding commitment to their field, particularly in the areas of Indigenous health, rural and remote healthcare, and paediatrics.
- Dr Shauna Hill – GPRA NT Rural and Remote Scholarship (targeting interstate doctors to come and practise in the NT)
- Dr Asim Razi – Professor Alan Walker Paediatric Scholarship
- Dr Leah Ginnivan – Professor Alan Walker Paediatric Scholarship
- Dr Ella Heggen – Ada Wilmadda Parry Aboriginal Health Scholarship
- Dr Anna Walmsley – Ada Wilmadda Parry Aboriginal Health Scholarship
- Dr Sophie Yeates – Dr Debbie Stach NT GP Registrar of the Year Award.

GPRA President Dr Karyn Matterson expressed her excitement about the upcoming NT Annual Registrars Forum event and the announcement of the scholarship winners.
“We are thrilled to recognise and celebrate the achievements of these exceptional NT GP registrars,” said Dr Matterson.
“Their dedication to improving healthcare in the Northern Territory is inspiring, and these scholarships will support their ongoing efforts to provide high-quality care within the Territory.”
The NT Annual Registrars Forum will commence with welcome drinks and a dinner on Friday 6 September, followed by a series of educational and development workshops and activities over the weekend.
The scholarship winners will be formally celebrated in a special awards presentation dinner on Saturday 7 September.
“The NT Annual Registrars Forum is an excellent opportunity for registrars to engage with their peers, gain valuable knowledge, and develop skills that will benefit their communities,” said Dr Matterson.
“We are honoured to host this inaugural event and to acknowledge the hard work and dedication of our scholarship winners.”
The forum will also feature a variety of sessions aimed at enhancing the professional development of GP registrars, including:
- Leadership in General Practice by Dr Siobhan Hensey
- Understanding the Business of General Practice by Assoc. Prof. Emma Kennedy
- Communicating with the Yolngu people of northern Australia by Dr Anna Walmsley
- Working in Remote Communities by Dr Annie Kleinitz.
