GPRA Northern Territory Scholarships 2025

GPRA is proud to support the growth and development of the future GP workforce in the Northern Territory (NT).

GPRA has four scholarships available in 2025 to support GP registrars who are currently training in the NT and those who are relocating to the NT for their training.

You are encouraged to apply for one or more of the following scholarships:

Dr Debbie Stach
Northern Territory GP Registrar of the Year Award

$10,000 awarded in 2025 to one GP registrar enrolled in the AGPT training program in the NT.

This award celebrates the life of Dr Debbie Stach, who died tragically in a car accident in 2004 soon after completing her GP training with the former NTGPE. Remove line space here and make one paragraph It recognises ongoing commitment, passion, and leadership to general practice in the NT.

The award is presented annually to one GP registrar enrolled in the AGPT training program in the NT who has demonstrated:

  • an outstanding approach to medicine
  • a commitment to improving Indigenous health outcomes in the NT
  • an outstanding approach to professionalism in their work, education, and training environments.

Debbie was an impressive young doctor whose commitment to Indigenous health made her stand out among her peers.

The Debbie Stach Memorial Fund was established in memory of Debbie by her parents to continue her beliefs and to support initiatives in areas to which she was committed, such as environmental issues, artistic and cultural pursuits, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health.

Dr Stach’s greatest gift was her sense of humanity. Her peaceful manner and perceptive insight into the world around her, allowed her to connect with and understand people of many different backgrounds. This quality, combined with her desire to live life well, made her a great doctor and a wonderful healer.
