Professor Alan Walker
Paediatric Scholarship

Professor Alan Walker is regarded as a champion of medicine in the field of paediatrics in the Northern Territory.

He was the head of paediatrics at the Royal Darwin Hospital from 1967 to 1996 and contributed significantly to the establishment of the former Northern Territory General Practice Education (NTGPE)  in 2002 and also was NTGPE’s first Chairperson of the Board.

This scholarship is for GP registrars in the Northern Territory (NT) who have an interest in further education in paediatrics, and who have demonstrated high standards of professional behaviour throughout their education and training.

  • Diploma in Child Health.
  • Rural Emergency Obstetric Training.
  • Support Advanced Skill Training.
Eligibility criteria
  • Nominee must be enrolled in a GP training program in the NT at the time of application

  • Nominee must demonstrate consistent professional behaviour and a commitment to continue working in the NT after the completion of GP training

  • Successful GP registrars must be willing to assist with the promotion of training in the NT

  • Successful GP registrars are required to produce an end of year report on education undertaken, and

  • Nominee will provide a full CV/resume with two referees.


Scholarship Value

$5,000 cash for up to three (3) GP Registrars.
