Aboriginal Health Scholarship 2024

The Ada Wilmadda Parry Aboriginal Health Scholarship provides $5,000 for up to two GP registrars who demonstrate a strong interest in improving Indigenous health, and improving cultural and linguistic understanding between Aboriginal patients and general practitioners. This is a self-nominated award.

About Ada Wilmadda Parry

Ada Wilmadda Parry was one of the first Cultural Educators in the Northern Territory ( NT). Ada has been a Cultural Educator for more than 30 years. Ada advocates the importance of cultural training for general practitioners who work in the NT, and is motivated to ensure Indigenous families do not have to struggle to be understood culturally and linguistically by medical practitioners.

Eligibility criteria
  • Nominee must be enrolled in the AGPT training program in the NT at the time of application

  • Nominee must demonstrate consistent professional behaviour and a commitment to training in the NT and Aboriginal health (in all aspects of education and training)

  • Successful GP registrars must be willing to assist with the promotion of training in the NT, and

  • Successful GP registrars are required to produce an end of project progress report, including scholarship money expenditure.

Scholarship value

$5,000 one-off payment for up to two (2) GP registrars on an annual basis.
