General Practice Registrars Australia (GPRA) Board Chair Mr Scott Williams today announced the resignation of GPRA Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Dr Andrew Gosbell, who will step down from the role in early December.
“The GPRA Board regretfully accepts the resignation of CEO Dr Andrew Gosbell,” Mr Williams said.
“During Dr Gosbell’s almost five-year tenure as CEO of GPRA he led the organisation through a period filled with substantial challenges, particularly as the GP training landscape has undergone – and continues to face – rapid changes. Dr Gosbell now leaves an organisation significantly changed for the better.”
“Dr Gosbell reinvigorated and strengthened the organisation’s longstanding relationships with external stakeholders; he refreshed and reengaged our membership through consistent advocacy on key GP training and employment issues; Dr Gosbell modernised GPRA into the nimble, efficient, member-focused organisation which we see today.”
“We also acknowledge Dr Gosbell’s response to the many challenges brought on by the pandemic, in particular the support and advocacy provided to our members in a time of great uncertainty.”
“On behalf of the Board, I extend my sincere gratitude to Dr Gosbell for his service and wish him all the best in the future.”
“The Board is currently engaging external recruitment agencies to find the right candidate to appoint as CEO to lead the organisation in the next phase of growth and change. We have confidence that this period of transition will be smooth for both members, stakeholders, and staff.”
“It has been a privilege to serve as CEO of GPRA and I am pleased to have been able to contribute to ensuring the organisation is in a strong position for the future. I am very appreciative of the support from the GPRA Board and members, and gratefully acknowledge the substantial contributions of the GPRA staff.
