Essential Insights for your general practice – July 2025

Are you an IMG who is new to general practice? GPRA is excited to present an exclusive series designed by IMGs and education experts just for you.

The IMG Series offers you a choice of either:

Overview

This Series will equip you with strategies to develop your general practice skills and knowledge as well as enhance your education and exam preparation skills.

The Series lead facilitators have both trained as IMGs in Australia and have developed the Series content. The Series offers a combination of education pre-reading, group and individual work. Designed to sharpen your patient consultation skills, clinical cases review understanding of the Australian health system and assessment preparation, including for exams (both GP Colleges)

The Series offers you the chance to grow your GP skills as well as connect with other peers from across Australia – either F2F or online.

  • Tailored content: Dive into material specifically crafted for International Medical Graduates (IMGs), ensuring you get the most relevant and impactful information
  • Expert-led sessions: Providing with opportunity to learn from experienced GPs and enhance your general practice education

Meet Your Speaker: Dr Nazha Nazeem
Dr. Nazha Nazeem is a fellowed General Practitioner and Medical Educator with a strong focus on supporting International Medical Graduates (IMGs) in their journey toward a career in General Practice. She has held various roles, including WBA Clinical Lead and AMC Examiner, and is actively involved in medical education research with a particular interest in the experiences and progression of IMGs. After completing her medical degree at the University of Melbourne, Dr. Nazeem worked across both rural and metropolitan settings. This experience highlighted for her the essential contribution of IMGs to Australia’s healthcare system, especially in addressing workforce gaps in General Practice. Dr. Nazeem is deeply committed to fostering a supportive and tailored educational environment that helps IMGs successfully translate their skills and experience into meaningful practice in Australia. Meet Your Speaker: Dr Abdul Qadeer Qayoom Jat
Dr Abdul graduated from LUHMS Sindh, holding postgraduate qualifications in Child Health, Medical Education, and General Practice. With a career that spans both urban and rural communities in Sindh, he brought his passion and expertise to Australia, where he gained invaluable experience across regional and urban settings, including a focus on Aboriginal health. As a seasoned medical educator, Dr Abdul has been a driving force in Family Medicine education and training on both national and international stages. For over a decade, he has dedicated himself to mentoring Australian general practitioners and International Medical Graduates (IMGs), helping them unlock their full potential through personalised coaching and guidance.
