Proposed new Scholarship for GPs in training (Northern Territory)

General Practice Registrars Australia (GPRA) as the national peak body for future GPs, has funding to establish a new scholarship to attract and help retain GPs to train in the Northern Territory (NT). GPRA seeks input from NT stakeholders to help inform the guidelines for the new scholarship earmarked for full implementation from 2024/25.
Your feedback is encouraged.

The new Scholarship aims to:

  • Support registrars to consider and train in remote locations (MMM6-7)
  • Develop cultural competence and help registrars understand remote health service delivery, community culture and challenges,
  • Support pastoral care aspects of registrar remote placements by connecting registrars with mentors and peers.
  • Strengthen NT remote primary healthcare by enabling GP Registrars to complete their training in remote communities, through financial, cultural and pastoral support.

The survey opens on 01 September 2023, and closes on the 6 of October 2023, please submit all feedback by this date to ellie.glassie@gpra.org.au.
