The GPRA Board has pledged its support to the Uluru Statement From The Heart and a ‘yes’ vote in the forthcoming referendum on the Voice to Parliament.
We believe The Voice has the potential to address health inequities, particularly by informing the development of relevant policies and services for First Nations peoples. We feel it is important that representation, from all peoples across the nation, helps make the sum total of the Voice, being our Voice. We may be one nation but there are many Voices to be heard.
As a member-based organisation, GPRA values and respects the diversity of our members and understands each member has the right to hold an individual position on the referendum.
We will continue to encourage and support more Indigenous Australians into the great speciality of General Practice to grow Indigenous doctors across the breadth of primary care in Australia.
