ANSWER

Practices may roster registrars to be on-call.

If other employed GP/RGs in the practice receive payment for being on-call (such as an allowance), then registrars should also receive payment for being rostered on call (clause 10.11 of the NTCER).

Per clause 10.3 of the NTCER, ordinary hours do not include on-call time. As such, practices are not required to roster registrars, and pay them for a minimum of 3 hours per on-call shift.

Where a registrar performs on-call work, the registrar must be paid at their ordinary hourly rate (clause 10.10 of the NTCER).
