ANSWER

The BBPIP is an additional incentive payment for eligible GP registrars and RGs who meet certain criteria including;

  • you have a valid Medicare Provider Number
  • you are working in and linked to a MyMedicare  -eligible practice participating in BBPIP
  • you bulk bill all eligible services for Medicare-eligible patients.

The BBIP guidelines outline that the treating doctor providing the service should receive an appropriate share of the Bulk Billing practice incentive payment.

The payment is calculated at 12.5% for every $1 of the MBS benefits paid for eligible services that are bulk billed during the assessment period, split evenly (50:50) between the practice and the provider. If you are eligible to receive the incentive it should be paid directly into your nominated bank account as nominated on PRODA.

Some practices operating under a salaried model may undertake their own allocation of the incentive payments that have been made through employment and contractual arrangements.
