Manning Health Hub

Seeking: VR GP, non-VR GP, or GP registrar
Location: Manning, NSW

Who we are looking for

We are seeking a general practitioner to provide competent and compassionate primary care services to patients of our privately owned General Practice.

While we would prefer an experienced GP, we are happy to provide training and support to assist a non-VR doctor towards their Fellowship. Most of our registrars or International Medical Graduates have secured their Fellowships and several Fellows are available for 1-on-1 training or to offer support with individual cases. We have regular doctors breakfast meetings at a local cafe to discuss clinical problems, to discuss journal articles or for peer support.

The successful applicant ideally would be working towards a Fellowship and be proficient in minor skin surgery. As a good team member, the applicant should be willing and able to do an equal share of on-call, nursing home and home visits.

About our practice

We are an 11-doctor, 2-site practice with each site having Distribution Priority Area (DPA) classification. Each site has a dedicated well-equipped treatment room and full-time nursing support. Our nursing staff have been trained to provide health assessments, care plans, vaccinations and cervical screening. We have an on-site psychologist at Taree and we planned to incorporate several more Allied Health Practitioners there to facilitate collaborative care, but this was derailed by the pandemic. Instead, we constructed and opened the regional GP Respiratory Clinic which now offers vaccinations as well as COVID testing.

Some general practices seem cramped, under-staffed, poorly equipped and may even be a little depressing. An interior designer guided the recent refurbishment of our practices to ensure they are pleasant places to work or to receive health care.

We have close collaboration with the local private and public hospital, GP Synergy, the University of Newcastle and the Pain Management Research Institute. We comprise two of the 700 general practices invited to join the NPS MedicineWise programme. This programme provides us with tailored feedback and contributes de-identified data for primary care research.

We trust our practice will provide top-of-the-range support and assist the successful applicant to reach their career and commercial goals.

Many of our team have young families and so we prioritise work-life balance.

About Manning Valley

Di Morrissey, a local author writes,

"Sydney friends say a weekend in the Manning Valley is better than a week at any health retreat. They eat well, they sleep well, they find the piece that's missing in their daily lives - tranquillity.

They say it's because there's no obvious reminder of the city; no jarring noise, only the clatter of an occasional train, the lowing of cattle, the call of birds, the soughing of casuarinas along the river bank. And all easy on the eye. No cement, no apartment blocks, no highways and traffic, no unsightly infrastructure."
