College Exam Information

General practice fellowship exams are a comprehensive assessment of your readiness to practice as an independent, safe, and professional GP. 

These exams evaluate your clinical competence, decision-making, and ability to manage a broad spectrum of presentations autonomously.

ACRRM’s main exams are:

  • the Multiple Choice Question (MCQ) exam is a written exam that assesses recall, reasoning and applied clinical knowledge
  • the Structured Assessment using Multiple Patient Scenarios (StAMPS) is a practical viva voce exam that assesses clinical reasoning. Candidates answer questions regarding a number of cases.

RACGP’s main exams are:

  • the Applied Knowledge Test (AKT) and the Key Feature Problem exam (KFP) are both written exams that assess medical knowledge (AKT), and decision-making skills and clinical reasoning (KFP)
  • the Clinical Competency Exam (CCE) is a practical exam that assesses application of knowledge and clinical reasoning. Candidates answer questions regarding a number of cases and role-play a number of simulated consultations.
