Hosted by Dr Siobhan Hensey

Dr Siobhan Hensey is a GP, medical educator and clinical editor based on Larrakia Country in Darwin in the Top End. Having completed her GP training in urban and remote NT, Siobhan continues to work with a focus on rural and remote healthcare, from advocacy to education. Her passions lie in communication and preventative care, working towards supported and sustainable health systems for both trainees and communities.

Alcohol and Drug Abuse

Explore the impacts of alcohol and drug misuse, including chronic health conditions such as chronic kidney disease, and gain insights into approaches to treatment and patient care.

Dr Dan Wilson (Clinical Director, Addiction Medicine,  Alcohol and Other Drug Services, NT Health)

Dr Dan Wilson is an Addiction Medicine Specialist and rurally trained General Practitioner, currently serving as Addiction Medicine Clinical Director for Mental Health Alcohol and Other Drugs with NT Health in Central Australia. His work is grounded in accessible, culturally safe and community-informed care across remote and regional settings.

Dan contributes to AOD leadership across the Northern Territory and nationally through his roles with the Royal Australian College of Physicians and the Australasian Chapter of Addiction Medicine, helping shape system-level strategy and advocacy. His approach blends clinical practice with systems influence, championing integrated and adaptable models of care that amplify the voices and priorities of individuals, families and communities.

Talk, Test, Treat, Trace, Prevent: All about STIs

Gain an overview of sexually transmitted infections (including HIV) and biomedical prevention relevant to general practice

A/Prof Manoji Gunathilake (Senior Staff Specialist, Sexual Health medicine and Head of Sexual Health and Blood Borne Virus Unit, Centre for Disease Control, NT Department of Health)

A/Prof Manoji Gunathilake provides NT-wide support to manage HIV, syphilis, and other sexually transmitted infections in addition to leading clinical services at Clinic 34 sexual health services. Manoji is passionate in teaching, and STI/HIV treatment and prevention. Over the past 10 years in the NT, prevention of congenital syphilis and mother to child transmission of HIV have been key priorities in her work. She has been involved in a number of important research projects to improve STI/HIV prevention and care.

GP Billing Systems – MBS, NDIS, Aged Care & Veteran Affairs

Participants will explore how patient care is delivered under Medicare and other health systems, gaining insights into consultations, billing codes, compliance/record keeping and reimbursement processes to practice effectively in primary health care.

Dr Sunny Krishna (General Practitioner, Victoria)

Dr Sunny Krishna is a practising general practitioner in Hawthorn and a newly appointed board member of the Eastern Melbourne PHN Clinical and Practice Council.

He has a passion for educating the future medical workforce as a medical educator with the RACGP and University of Melbourne.  

Sunny is returning for the third time to deliver this popular and practical session to registrars. Sunny loves spending time with his family, playing cricket and discovering new ways to make coffee.

Explore clinical scenarios faced by doctors in tropical northern Australia, addressing threats from macropathogens such as snakes and crocodiles, and micropathogens such as bacteria, parasites, and environmental hazards.

Professor Bart Currie (Menzies School of Health Research and Northern Territory Medical Program, Royal Darwin Hospital)

Professor Bart Currie is an infectious diseases and public health physician at Royal Darwin Hospital and Professor in Medicine at the Northern Territory Medical Program. He leads the Tropical and Emerging Infectious Diseases team at Menzies School of Health Research.

Dr Casey Going is a General Practitioner, practice owner (Warwick Qld), and Co-Director of MBSPro. With extensive experience in clinical care and practice management, he focuses on improving efficiency, compliance, and patient outcomes within Australian general practice. Casey combines frontline medical expertise with a strong understanding of Medicare billing, workflow optimisation, and healthcare technology. He is also a regular speaker and educator on digital health, AI adoption, and sustainable practice growth across the Australian healthcare industry.

A/Prof Jill Benson AM has been a GP for over 40 years, for the last 20 years mostly working as a GP for other doctors, in remote Aboriginal communities, with refugees, as a Medical Educator and researcher, and as a volunteer medical educator in the Pacific Islands.

Crystal Robins (Music Therapist)

Crystal Robins is a professional musician and registered music therapist living in Darwin since 2017. Crystal graduated with a Masters of Music Therapy from Melbourne University in 2016, and a Bachelor of Music from The Australian Institute of Music in 2005. She presented at the World Music Therapy Conference in Japan in 2017, on the collaborations of a music therapist and speech pathologist supporting children with hearing impairments. Crystal currently works in private practice in Darwin in the areas of disability and mental health, at Top End Mental Health Consumers Organisation (TEMHCO), and in the Holtze Youth Detention Centre.
