There are 2 Awards available; 1 for registrars/New Fellows and 1 for medical students.

The Awards recognise outstanding contributions to the quality use of medicines in general practice and medical education.

AMH/GPRA Quality Use of Medicines in General Practice Award

This award celebrates GP or Rural Generalist (RG) Registrars and New Fellows (within 5 years of Fellowship) who demonstrate exceptional application of quality use of medicines (QUM) principles to improve patient care.

Eligibility criteria:

  • Currently practising GP/RG Registrar or New Fellow (within 5 years of Fellowship)
  • Open to all pathways.

Submission requirements:
Submit a de-identified clinical case (maximum 800 words) showcasing how you used the Australian Medicines Handbook (AMH)  to improve patient care through the application of QUM principles.

Award value

  • National recognition by AMH and GPRA
  • Publication in the next edition of GPRA’s Clinical Cases Book
  • 12 months access to the AMH Book and AMH Desk App
  • 12 months access to GPRA’s Clinical Cases Book
  • Cash prize of $4,175

AMH/GPRA Quality Use of Medicines in Student Education (Medical) Award

This award recognises a General Practice Students Network (GPSN) medical student member who demonstrates an exceptional understanding of QUM principles in their learning or clinical placement environment.

Eligibility criteria:

  • Currently enrolled medical student in Australia
  • Member of General Practice Students Network (GPSN).

Submission requirements:
Submit a short video (maximum 5 minutes) illustrating how the Australian Medicines Handbook (AMH) can be used in your learning or general practice placement to improve patient care through QUM principles.

Award value

  • National recognition by AMH and GPRA
  • Publication in GPSN’s national e-news
  • Conference stipend of $2,500 (valid for 12 months)
  • Cash prize of $2,500
