President's Message

10 September 2026

Dear GPRA Members,

I’m still riding the high of a weekend spent at GPRA’s Northern Territory Registrars Forum.

It was inspiring to meet the passionate doctors who joined us in Darwin – a mix of Rural Generalist and General Practitioner trainees from both Colleges – and to provide them with extra education and support as they care for communities across the Top End.

The forum was also a chance to celebrate our NT Scholarship winners and their outstanding commitment to their field, particularly in the areas of First Nations health, rural and remote healthcare, and paediatrics.

I’m excited to share some of the new ways GPRA is supporting your training and career, ensuring you can help shape the tools you will use in your everyday practice and providing you with access to high-quality educational resources.

GPRA partners with Lyrebird Health

GPRA is supporting future GPs and RGs to practise safely and co-design clinical AI tools under a new partnership with Lyrebird Health, announced today.

Commencing from 2027, the Lyrebird partnership provides GPRA members with:

  • 12 months’ free access to a Lyrebird Pro and an AI-confidence curriculum covering AI-safe practice, billing confidence and portfolio careers
  • The opportunity to join and be remunerated as a member of Lyrebird’s national working group – giving registrars a seat at the table shaping the tools they will use for the rest of their careers.

AI scribes are an exciting tool that I use in my own practice, allowing me to better focus on my patients and save time on administrative tasks.

Like any tool you use in medical practice or training, it’s important to discuss its use with your supervisor, and follow the guidelines of your training college, hospital or practice.

GPRA Members Only Platform: Your gateway to trusted GP/RG resources

Today, I’m also thrilled to announce the GPRA Members Only Platform.

Built with you in mind and offered exclusively to GPRA members, this new hub is your gateway to extra educational resources to support you along your career journey on one platform.

Finally, don’t forget if you have any questions about your employment, the GPRA website has information about the National Terms and Conditions for the Employment of Registrars (NTCER), including a recent webinar I hosted outlining the key changes for 2026-28.
