International Women’s Day 2026
With International Women’s Day recently (8 March), it is important to be familiar with resources that can help you to improve the health and wellbeing of women and girls.

  • Jean Hailes is a not-for-profit with patient and health professional resources, including webinars, clinical guides, and practice support tools on topics like endometriosis, PCOS, and menopause.
  • The Australasian Menopause Society offers extensive information and clinical guides on menopause, including the Practitioner’s Toolkit for Managing Menopause.
  • The Australian Contraception and Abortion Primary Care Practitioner Support Network (AusCAPPS) connects clinicians for peer support and expert knowledge on long-acting reversible contraception and early medical abortion.
  • RANZCOG provides primary care-relevant statements and guidelines for clinical care during and after the antenatal period.

Do not forget all the important preventative health recommendations for women included in the RACGP’s Red Book (Guidelines for preventative activities in general practice) such as screening for breast and cervical cancer.

HealthPathways
Each morning when I begin work in the clinic, one of the most valuable resources I open is HealthPathways. This free online platform provides clear, evidence‑based guidance to support the diagnosis and management of a wide range of conditions commonly encountered in general practice.

Its concise and well‑structured format allows me to access information efficiently during consultations. Even more beneficial is the localised content, which outlines region‑specific referral pathways and patient services, helping me navigate the healthcare system more effectively.

Developed collaboratively by GPs and a broad network of healthcare providers, HealthPathways is now available across most of Australia, making it a consistently reliable and practical tool in my daily clinical work.

Find your local HealthPathways site.
