President's Message

26 February 2026

Dear GPRA Members,

What a start to the year!

Earlier this month, we proudly celebrated 25 years of GPRA with a special event in South Australia – a milestone that reflects the strength, advocacy, and collective voice of generations of future GPs/RGs. It was wonderful to see so many past and present members of the GPRA community come together to celebrate how far we’ve come, and to look ahead to what’s next. Don’t forget to check out our 25th year membership benefits.

To our new 2026 GP/RG registrars – welcome. The first months of training can feel like a whirlwind. You are not alone. GPRA is here to support you, and we’ve lined up two FREE national webinars (4 March and 11 March) to help you settle in with confidence. I encourage you to register and get involved.

GPRA is seeking your input by 12 March on the National Terms and Conditions for the Employment of Registrars (NTCER) Review 2026. Your feedback will directly inform discussions at our upcoming National GPRA Advisory Council meeting on 28 March, where your Registrar Liaison Officers (RLOs) will be providing consolidated feedback to help update the NTCER. The NTCER sets minimum conditions, so this is an opportunity to tell us your views. I would love to hear what is working well, what is confusing, what you think could be improved, and any specific suggestions for additions, amendments or improvements to the NTCER.

We’ve also launched our 2026 GPRA NT Scholarships – a powerful investment in attracting, supporting and retaining GP and RG registrars across the Territory. If you’re passionate about rural and remote practice, I strongly encourage you to explore and apply.

Finally, I’m excited to announce the launch of the new GPRA Futures webpage  – a space dedicated to exploring the future of health technology and innovation in primary healthcare, as well as profiling thinkers, creators, researchers and provocateurs! The future isn’t something that just happens to us – it’s something we help shape.

Thank you for being part of GPRA’s next chapter.

Until next time,

Dr Chris Dickie
GPRA President
